Snowmobile Storage Prep

Mike Ford, All Service Oil
  1. Wash and Clean - wash with soap and water, let dry.  Protect with AMSOIL Mudslinger - it creates a non-stick protective layer of armor that repels dirt, dust and helps block UV rays to prevent color fade. Returns luster for added shine and like new appearance. Inspect machine for any worn, damaged or broken parts.  Now is a good time to replace them.

  2.  Treat fuel - Add AMSOIL Gasoline Stabilizer to gas and run for about 5 minutes.  AMSOIL Gasoline Stabilizer keeps fuel from deteriorating for up to 12 months, resists the formation of varnish and gum, and is effective on ethanol-blended fuel.  Follow instructions on bottle.

  3. Fog the engine with AMSOIL Fogging Oil -  Follow owners manual for proper fogging procedure or directions on the can.

  4.  Change the chaincase oil.  Now is also a good time to inspect chain and sprockets.

  5.  Clean and inspect brakes, check/change brake fluid.

  6.  Check coolant level.

  7.  4-Stroke snowmobiles: change oil and filter.  AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke 0w-40 provides protection and great cold temperature performance.

  8.  Grease - apply AMSOIL Water Resistant grease to each zerk on the chassis.  This pushes out water and fills with grease to protect against moisture and corrosion during storage.

  9.  Clutches - Remove belt and store.  Remove clutches, clean and inspect.  If you are unable to remove the clutches, just clean and inspect.

  10.  Battery - If your snowmobile is equipped with a battery, inspect battery and terminals.  Some machines may have a plugin for a battery tender, plug in the proper battery tender to properly preserve your battery.  If your machine does not have this option, remove the battery and store properly on a battery tender.

  11.  Protect Metal Surfaces.  Spray AMSOIL MP Metal Protector on metal surfaces: engine, exhaust, A-arms, suspension, shocks, shock shafts, springs, any metal surface you want to protect.  AMSOIL MP Metal Protector leaves a light coat of lightweight oil.

  12.  Storage - Store in a cool, dry place; preferably off the ground,  Cover with a soft, breathable cover.  If possible, store machine elevated with the weight of the machine off the track and suspension. Place moth balls or dryer sheets in bags, under the hood, etc. to keep out rodents.

Midwest Ride-in at ERX Motorpark

We had a great time over the weekend checking out the Midwest Ride-in @erxmotorpark in Elk River, Mn. The Midwest Ride-in is a vintage snowmobile show like no other snowmobile show. Participants ride to the show, trailer to the show, and ride all around during the event. And it's not limited to just vintage sleds. ERX Motorpark has a vast trail system that all the snowmobiles were able to check out and enjoy. One of our AMSOIL Dealers, @_aplusoils was at the show all three days representing AMSOIL, selling products to participants and meeting some really cool folks. (We'll share more about that) This was a great fun FAMILY event. Our daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids all had a great time. Our grandson even got to drive his Kitty Cat snowmobile. #familytime #snowmobile #vintagesnowmobile #selfemployed #husbandandwife #husbandandwifeteam #supportsmallbusiness #selfemployedlife #amsoildealerstyle #beyourownboss #amsoilambassador #amsoil #enthusiast Follow u

Ways to Prep Your Snowmobile for Winter

Skip to content Toggle navigat  Ways to Prep Your Snowmobile for Winter Jamie Gibson | Oct 08, 2019 8:18 AM Snowmobile maintenance is a huge part of getting your sled ready for winter . Nothing ruins a ride more than a breakdown, so we put together some tips to help you get your snowmobile ready for winter. Check the spark plugs Inspect spark-plug and wire condition. Ski-Doo E-TEC engines require indexing if removed or replaced, so be sure to check your owner’s manual for proper instructions. Replace plugs that appear excessively dirty or worn along with any worn or frayed wires. Inspect clutches and suspension Check clutches, the drive belt and suspension for wear and tear. Greasing and inspecting the suspension components and slides (hyfax) are a great idea. Slides typically have a small line across them indicating when they are worn out. If they are below the line at all, replace them. Items to check in the suspension include loose or worn parts and missing or loose idler wheels.
